  The main entrance of the library landscape


The library is located on the north-south axis of the campus of Chongqing College Of Architecture And Technology in Chongqing College City, which is an important part of improving the campus structure. The library's architectural volume, as well as its central position in the campus, determines that it is the most important landmark in the campus.

  The location of the library on campus


The general layout design emphasizes the friendliness of the building and the campus environment, fully considers the overall image of the building, naturally connects the building with the campus road network, and creates the cultural function attributes that meet the library building:


1、The north side of the building is the background of the statue of Zhou Enlai on the axis of the campus, and the concept of "shadow wall" of Chinese classical architecture is used to form the "transitional space" into the library.


2、The south side of the stadium fully considers the display of the building;


3、The east side is close to the dormitory area, considering the interference of image and noise;


4、The west side faces the science and technology museum to create a transparent line of sight.

The shape of the library is derived from the elegant shape of Agapetes lacei Craib. The north and east sides are mainly composed of solid walls, like flowers and branches. The west and south sides are like lantern petals crystal clear glass curtain wall. Several flowing curved surfaces outline the dynamic form of flowers, which are interesting to the surrounding teaching buildings and dormitory buildings, and become the landmark and visual focus of the whole campus.



The main entrance to the north of the library is the highlight of the building. Through the combination of glass curtain wall and perforated metal plate, the visual focus of the whole building is formed.

There is 'ingenuity' behind the transparent glass curtain wall


The glass curtain wall inside the gray space of the main entrance of the library is the main facade of the project. The inside of the glass curtain wall is the high lobby. The height of the main structure beam spans about 18 meters (3 layers). On the plane, it is a steel structure column about 1.2m from the skin. The horizontal distance of the steel structure column is 10.8 meters. In order to create an extremely transparent effect in the entrance hall area, the architect PHA is not allowed to set up civil or steel structure beams. The main structure of the site: the roof beam, and the ground at the entrance do not allow us to use the cable curtain wall. How to do it?

In order to achieve this effect, the Forcitis team decided to make full use of the steel column about 1.2m away from the skin. After analysis, we decided to adjust the direction of the force, from the column on the extension of the use of herringbone holding hands, increase the narrow section of the steel beam, so that the weight of the curtain wall load segment conversion, and ultimately passed to the main steel structure column. At the same time, this fluorocarbon sprayed 300*80*6mm steel pipe, from the front view width of only 80mm, basically infinitely close to the traditional sense of aluminum alloy keel.



In order to weaken the influence, the bracket extended from the steel column is welded with the transverse steel pipe by using the trapezoidal variable cross-section keel. In order to ensure the structural reliability of the beam, the L-950mm core sleeve is used in the steel pipe keel joint, and the problem is solved by the structural design of bolt group and deep insertion. Finally, relying on a total of five horizontal steel keels along the height direction of 3.6m, we solved the problem of self-weight and wind load of the glass curtain wall plate.

Regarding the curtain wall itself, there are supported transverse steel beams, customized through the opening of the aluminum alloy, all the curtain wall keel connections rely on 10mm steel plates, completed in the cavity of the aluminum profile, on-site without any welds, bolts exposed.



Finally, relying on the integrated design of curtain wall and steel structure, the problem of unsupported structure in this large space is solved, and the ultimate transparent visual effect is obtained, which solves the requirement of architectural elevation effect of first party and architects.

Aesthetics of aluminum plate roof 



The outer part of the north roof is made of aluminum plate. Each aluminum plate is a parallelogram. The serrated plane effect is formed by the change of the angle on the plane, and the rich light and shadow changes are formed in the sun. In the detail design, LED light strips of different lengths are set at the corner of each group of aluminum plates, and a gap is reserved at the junction of the two aluminum plates, and a transparent acrylic plate is set at the gap.

In the interior of the roof, the architect uses the concept of 'starry sky' to metaphorize students' exploration of the unknown world. All aluminum plates are spliced with a length and width of 2000mmx1200mm as standard parts, including four patterns of perforated aluminum plates and a non-perforated solid aluminum plate. A total of five patterns form the pattern of the inner surface of the north roof.

The four perforated plate patterns are divided into four ABCD patterns according to the density of the opening rate. On this basis, four patterns of A ' B ' C ' D ' were set up to rotate 180 degrees of perforated aluminum plates, a total of 9 kinds of aluminum plates were distributed.

Above the layout of the lamp, try to be evenly distributed behind the perforated plate. The higher the perforation rate of the aluminum plate, the more lamp beads are set behind it.

Conclusion


The west and south sides of the library are window wall design, revealing internal lighting. The flowing curved surface outlines the dynamic form, forms the 'core' of the surrounding teaching buildings and dormitory buildings, and becomes the landmark and visual focus of the whole campus. The main entrance of the north library is the background of the end of the central axis of the campus, which is perfectly combined with the campus texture.
