Shanghai Hongqiao Zhenro Center, located in the core business area of Hongqiao, has been a national business card of Shanghai since its establishment in 2015. Its facade design, created by FORCITIS facade design team, has won many praises and awards in the industry, and has also become a classic work in the facade design industry.

Location value



Shanghai Hongqiao Zhenro Center is located in the core area of Shanghai Hongqiao Business District, close to Hongqiao Hub, Shenhong Road in the west, Xinghong Road in the north, Shengui Road in the east and Yanghong Road in the south. The project is divided into North District, Central District and South District. The Southern District consists of 6 Grade A offices and 6 single-family offices.



Since the project was completed and put into use in 2015, relying on the development advantages of Hongqiao Core Business District, it has become an exhibition complex with first-class hardware facilities and supporting services, strong trade driving force, novel commercial characteristics and excellent economic and social effects. The surrounding supporting facilities are also quite perfect, and it is a rare successful commercial building complex in Shanghai.


On May 9, 2018, FORCITIS Shanghai Headquarters Office was formally established, and the address of the office was chosen in Hongqiao Zhenro Center. When preparing for the Shanghai headquarters in 2017, the priority is given here.

Facade highlights



The facade design project of Shanghai Hongqiao Zhenro Center, which was participated by Forster, won the third prize of the first architectural design award and architectural facade professional award in 2018.




Zhenro Center is a project in the core area of Hongqiao Business District, and it is also a scarce pure office project in the region. The project is positioned as the core of Hongqiao and the flagship of Asian eco-business. The combination of facade and lighting shows the agility of facade through the rhythmic change of overhanging and concave. Combined with lighting design at night, the same building facade creates different visual effects, which is sparkling and realizes the perfect combination of facade and lighting.


The rhythm of light and shadow shows the architectural concept


The architectural design of the project is based on the concept of "Centripetal and Enclosure", and the facade is designed with the concept of "Light and Shadow Rhythm", which reflects the architectural activity and movement. The building is designed according to the green three-star standard and certified.


Facade system expresses the architectural language


The facade system of the project mainly includes frame glass facade system, frame aluminum facade system, glass railing system, glass lighting roof system, main building roof metal railing system, fire linkage flat push window system, facade opening door leaf system and vertical (horizontal) sunshade system.



Six grade A office buildings are inspired by "Lucky Cloud" to create a warm and private office atmosphere; It also highlights the characteristics of the project in the plot area. Six buildings are set in the east and west parts of the plot, and the plane outline is symmetrically surrounded by circular arcs, inclining in the north-south direction. Vertical irregular steel plate louvers are set on the third to fifth floors of the east and west sides. Through the rhythm change of overhanging and concave, it shows the agility of the facade. Combined with lighting design at night, the same building facade creates different visual effects and is sparkling.


Sunshade louver system


The use of sunshade louver system can not only ensure the privacy of the building, but also play a protective role on the building surface.


The vertical louvers for 3-5 floors on the east and west sides has a maximum overhanging size of 600mm and a minimum overhanging size of 180mm, and the outer surface of louver and glass is left empty by 50mm. At the beginning of the scheme design, the solid core layout is considered, and the horizontal stabilizer bar is not allowed to be set considering the facade effect. After the intervention, FORCITIS conducted all-round research and analysis with the owner and Kaida on the stress, processing and cost of the louver, and finally adopted the perforation treatment of the louver at the solid core. On the one hand, it can reduce the lateral wind load of vertical louver, on the other hand, it can reduce the dead weight of louver by about 30%, reduce the transportation cost and installation difficulty, and the facade effect can highlight the lightness and elegance of louver.


The vertical louver blades are processed in sections according to the standard floor height of 4.5m, and three connection points are set on each floor. The louver blades are integrally processed and formed with 20mm steel plate, and the surface is treated with fluorocarbon spraying.



The louver is connected to the glass facade column to form a complete system. The column and beam of the glass facade system should be the galvanized steel profiles and outfitted with decorative aluminum alloy profiles, thus solving the connection problem of louver connectors. The dead weight and lateral wind load of louver are transmitted to facade support members through connectors. In order to provide the connection stiffness between louver connectors and steel columns, the design of connector steel plates requires penetrating the flange plates at the front and rear ends of steel columns and welding them effectively.


Glass facade systems with different shapes


The north and south facades of the main building and podium building of the standard office glass facade of the project are inclined inside and outside, with an inclination angle of 76°, and the east and west facades are vertical. The glass facade should be the system that is bright in horizontal direction and hiding in vertical direction, and double-glazed sandwich tempered glass is used above the second floor.


The beam design of inclined glass facade should be the structure parallel to the floor, which unifies the indoor visual effect and facilitates the fire prevention and repair of the floor position. The "nose" at the front end of the open frame beam should be a structure parallel to the glass, in order to avoid the slip phenomenon of the glass cushion block caused by triangular cutting angle of the glass cushion block.



The interlayer fire prevention should be the double-channel fire prevention structure design, and the inner side of the glass is provided with 10mm thick calcium silicate board + 50mm thermal insulation rock wool, and the fire resistance rating is grade A.


The single-family office building is designed to have three floors above ground, and the basement floor is the storeroom. Considering that the single-family office building is at the core of the plot, the privacy of indoor office is fully considered while meeting the daily office functions. The 1-3 floors of the whole office should be the irregular double-layer facade system, which plays multiple roles of shading, lighting and concealment. The facade system of single-family office building mainly includes frame glass facade system, all-glass facade system with glass ribs, frame perforated aluminum plate facade system, glass railing system, facade opening door leaf system and maintenance grille system.


The skirt building facade should be the glass facade system that is bright in horizontal direction and hiding in vertical direction, and another layer of vertical metal sun visor system is set about 250mm away from the outer surface of the facade, as shown in the following figure. The system can not only shade the sun, but also shade the roof equipment, enriching and unifying the facade form of the podium building.

The design of facade endows buildings with soul, and buildings also achieve enterprises by exerting bearing functions and location values.
